Abstract
Adult umbilical hernia is one of the most common health conditions. But there is a lack of consensus on surgical treatment of umbilical hernia. Also, recurrent rate is reported at 1¡54 percent variously, and especially large defects are a risk factor for recurrence. An umbilical hernia is classified as a midline hernia 3 cm above to 3 cm below the umbilicus and is defined within the lateral margins of rectus muscle sheaths. So, we reported a case of laparoscopic repair for recurrent, large defect umbilical hernia. A 37-year-old woman was diagnosed with recurrent umbilical hernia based on a physical examination and computed tomography. The size of defect was approximately 5¡¿5 cm, and size of protruding mass was 13¡¿10 cm. We prepared laparoscopic herniorrhaphy with a special procedure to reduce dilated hernia space.
